Highlights of the Tour

  • Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s oldest and largest conservation area, covering an area of 3,840 Km² and home to over 451 bird species (including the highly sought after and rare shoebill stork) and 76 different mammal species, including giraffes. Other game sightings regularly include lion, elephant, hippo, leopard, buffalo, hyena, warthog and various antelope.
  • Arguably the highlight of this trip is the mighty River Nile, which bisects the park and is forced through an 8m² wide cleft in the rock at Murchison Falls, plunging into the Devil’s Cauldron below. This is one of Silverbacks’ signature tours and is highly popular, with tailor made departures throughout the year, perfect for those looking for a classic safari experience on a budget!

Itinerary

Our company representative (Safari guide), will pick you up at 7.00am from your hotel residence in a customized pop-top safari jeep/Van and head to Murchison falls with a brief lunch break at the Kabalega Dinners, there after proceed to the Murchison falls through the Kichumbanyobo Gate. After registration and payment we shall by pass the top of the falls before driving straight to our accommodation. At 6:45am, depart for the ferry crossing to the North Bank, taking along a packed breakfast from your Lodge. Enjoy a 4-hour game drive around the Buligi game tracks, which stretch between the Victoria and Albert Niles, and down to the Nile-Lake Albert Delta. Most of the park’s game and birdlife which can be viewed from here, but please note – nothing is guaranteed! Then at 11:00am Return to your Lodge for Lunch and relaxation as you wait for your afternoon boat cruise to the bottom of the falls – and later hiking to the top! At 14.30: Depart for a 3-hour boat cruise along the Victoria Nile to the base of the fall, along the way; you will be able to observe a wide variety of birds and wildlife, including numerous hippos and crocodiles – as well as breathtaking scenery. Today we shall leave the lodge at will as we return to Kampala and then have a stopover for a bite to eat at Kabalega Diner before continuing with the homeward journey. Arrive back in Kampala between 17.00 and 18.30, depending on traffic. – Journey Time| 5 -6Hrs
