Your adventure begins with a morning pick-up from Entebbe airport or your hotel. After a brief orientation, you'll travel through Masaka District, enjoying several stopovers. The first major stop is the Uganda Equator for photography and sightseeing. Continue to Igongo Cultural Centre for a visit to the Ankole Kigezi Museum and lunch. Proceed through the scenic Kigezi Highlands to reach Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, the smallest yet incredibly diverse park in Uganda, home to golden monkeys, mountain gorillas, and over 180 bird species. After the approximately 7-hour journey, check into your safari lodge for the night.
After breakfast, head to the park offices for a briefing, which lasts about 30 minutes, covering important trekking instructions and permit verification. Accompanied by an armed park ranger, you'll embark on the golden monkey trek, which can take around 3 hours. Spend an hour observing these lively monkeys as they leap from bamboo to bamboo. Upon completing the trek, you'll receive a certificate of recognition. Return to the lodge to rest, and later in the day, take a community walk to explore the unique Batwa culture, learning about their traditional way of life.
Begin the long journey back to Kampala early in the morning to ensure you catch your flight from Entebbe or reach your next destination. This marks the end of your unforgettable Golden Monkey Expedition.
